Academics involved in the community – BaCcUBBine

The UBB Foundation invites you to get involved in the social tutoring project BACcUBBine. The project envisages the realization of an annual preparation program for the baccalaureate exam, in the exam disciplines: Romanian language and literature, mathematics, history, geography, logics, (and in other exam disciplines, depending on the involvement of other colleagues). The project will be supported by volunteers – UBB teachers / doctoral students – and addressed to students in the final grades, who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as rural, or from vulnerable families with low incomes.

The program will be conducted during the academic year, with weekly activities (2h), between November and June.

This program is part of the social activities of the UBB Foundation’s activities and responds to the need for community involvement of the academia, that would contribute not only to the improvement of school performance for students in the target group, but also to the promotion of university curricula among future high school graduates, thus encouraging their possible academic career.

Even though the exam passing rates of students in Cluj county are higher than the national average, this does not exclude the real need of many of them to benefit from free support in order to optimize performance in the baccalaureate exam (in Cluj-Napoca, during the school year 2019 -2020, over 4000 social scholarships were awarded the pupils).

Tutors will work on a voluntary basis, individually or in teams, on the usual online platforms: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meets.

Because we want to start the program on the 1st of November 2020, please fill in a short Registration Form (name, UBB affiliation or outside UBB, email, phone, subject to which you can contribute), until the 15th of October and send it to fundatiaubb.tutorat@gmail.com
